Srinagar, Dec 16 (KNO): In his 70's, Abdul Rehman Wani (Name changed) from Shopian district kept waiting within the premises of Director General of Police (DGP) R R Swain's Public Grievance Redressal Programme (PGRP) with a hope of smile and joy to his family. In the bone-chilling cold, Wani donning a traditional Pheran was standing in the queue, waiting for his turn to meet the Jammu and Kashmir Police Chief, R R Swain, who has for the first time started a weekly public darbar here to get the issues of the general public resolved. Talking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Wani said his son was working as a Special Police Officer (SPO) till four year ago. However, a misunderstanding has cost the smiles and happiness of the family as Jahangir was booked in a case in which he was later given a ‘clean chit’. According to Wani, four years ago, Jahangir was arrested in a case along with some other youth, but after one year, he was given a clean chit as his involvement was not found. “Since then my son has been unemployed and has not been reinstated. I went from pillar to post to seek his reinstatement, but all in vain,” he said, adding that the Director General of Police DGP’s public darbar has brought hope as he is expecting that the issue would be resolved here only. “I have come with hopes and expectations. I believe my son will be reinstated again,” he said—(KNO)
